VACCINE

INDICATIONS

Vaccination of sows or gilts:

Passive immunization of piglets via the colostrum, after administration to sows and gilts, to reduce infection and virus excretion, lesions and clinical signs caused by the porcine Circovirus type 2.

Vaccination of piglets:

Active immunization to reduce infection and virus excretion, lesions and clinical signs caused by the porcine Circovirus type 2.

STORAGE 

Store and transport refrigerated between +2 ºC and +8 ºC.

Protect from light.

Use within 3 hours after reconstitution.

COMPOSITION

Per one reconstituted 2 mℓ dose:

Inactivated porcine Circovirus

type 2 (PCV2)……………………………....            ≥ 2.1 log 10 ELISA Units 

Thiomersal……………………………………           0.20 mg

Oil adjuvant………………………………….            q.s. 2 mℓ                      

WARNINGS

• Do not slaughter pigs for human consumption within 21 days after vaccination.
• Apply usual aseptic procedures.
• No known drug interaction.
• Vaccination may induce a transient oedema and a small local reaction without any effect on the health and reproductive performance of the animals.
• Vaccination may exceptionally cause hypersensitivity reactions. In such cases, an appropriate symptomatic treatment should be provided.
• No undesirable effects, except those mentioned under the previous 2 bullets, were observed after the administration of a double dose of vaccine.
• Do not mix with any other medicinal product.
• Keep out of reach of children, uninformed persons and animals.
• Although this vaccine has been extensively tested under a large variety of conditions, failure thereof may ensue as a result of a wide range of reasons.   If this is suspected, seek veterinary advice and inform the registration holder.

PRECAUTIONS

This product contains mineral oil. Accidental human injection may result in severe pain and swelling, particularly if injected into a joint or finger, and in rare cases could result in the loss of the affected finger if prompt medical attention is not given. In case of accidental human injection with this product, seek prompt medical advice even if only a very small amount is injected and take the package insert with you. If pain persists for more than 12 hours after medical examination, seek medical advice again.

This product contains mineral oil. Even if small amounts have been injected, accidental human injection with this product can cause intense swelling, which may, for example, result in ischaemic necrosis and even the loss of a digit. Expert, prompt, surgical attention is required and may necessitate early incision and irrigation of the injected area, especially where there is involvement of finger pulp or tendon.

DOSAGE AND DIRECTIONS FOR USE: USE ONLY AS DIRECTED. 

• Use only as directed.
• Can be used during pregnancy.
• Mix the content of the bottle of CIRCOVAC^® suspension with the content of the bottle of CIRCOVAC^® emulsion.

• One reconstituted 2 mℓ dose is administered by deep intramuscular route according to the following vaccination programme:

       Primary vaccination

       2 injections 3 – 4 weeks apart, at least two weeks before mating.

       Re-vaccination

       One injection at each gestation, at least two weeks before farrowing.

• One reconstituted 0.5 mℓ dose is administered by deep intramuscular route according to the following vaccination programme:

       One injection from three weeks of age.

PRESENTATION 

Suspension and emulsion for injectable emulsion.

5 sow doses or 20 piglet doses:

1 bottle of 5 sow doses or 20 piglet doses of suspension + 1 bottle of 5 sow doses or 20 piglet doses of emulsion.

10 x 5 sow doses or 20 piglet doses:

10 bottles of 5 sow doses or 20 piglet doses of suspension + 10 bottles of 5 sow doses or 20 piglet doses of emulsion.

25 sow doses or 100 piglet doses:

1 bottle of 25 sow doses or 100 piglet doses of suspension + 1 bottle of 25 sow doses or 100 piglet doses of emulsion.

10 x 25 sow doses or 100 piglet doses:

10 bottles of 25 sow doses or 100 piglet doses of suspension + 10 bottles of 25 sow doses or 100 piglet doses of emulsion.
