A live freeze-dried vaccine for the active immunization of healthy chicks from day–old against Newcastle Disease (ND) and Infectious Bronchitis (IB).
STORAGE:
Store in a refrigerator at 2 – 8 °C.
Protect from sunlight.
Improper storage of the vaccine may cause potency losses.
COMPOSITION:
This vaccine contains a live, freeze–dried ND virus (Strain PHY. LMV. 42) and IB virus (Massachusetts type strain H120). Minimum titre per dose is 106,0 EID50 ND virus and 103,3 EID50 IB virus.
WARNINGS:
Do not slaughter fowls for human consumption within 21 days after vaccination.
Clinically ill or weak chicks must not be vaccinated.
Improper storage or handling of the vaccine may result in a loss of potency.
All susceptible fowls on the same premises should be vaccinated at the same time.
Rarely, catarrhal respiratory symptoms appear 3 to 6 days following vaccination but disappear within 10 days.
Accidental contact with the eyes can lead to a severe, transient conjunctivitis in humans. Consult a physician and inform him/her that the vaccine contains a live Newcastle disease virus.
Destroy any unused vaccine by for example burning; dispose of all the vaccine containers when the vaccination is completed.
Keep out of reach of children, uninformed persons and animals.
Although this remedy has been extensively tested under a large variety of conditions, failure thereof may ensue as a result of a wide range of reasons. If this is suspected, seek veterinary advice and notify the registration holder.
PRECAUTIONS:
Do not mix with any other vaccines.
All fowls in the flock must be vaccinated at the same time.
Administer the vaccine during the coolest time of the day.
Mix only the amount of vaccine to be used immediately and use promptly.
Always round the number of doses up (e.g. 20 000 doses for 19 450 chicks)
It is good vaccination practice not to allow vaccine to come into contact with human eyes or mucous membranes.
Wash and disinfect hands with a disinfectant after vaccination.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE: USE ONLY AS DIRECTED
For the vaccination of healthy chicks from day-old by the eye-drop or spray method.
Following vaccination the immunity develops within 5 to 7 days. For optimum protection, re-vaccination 14 to 21 days after the first vaccination, is recommended.
Eyedrop Method:
CEVAC® VITABRON L vaccine is reconstituted in sterile diluent as follows:
Pull up the plastic tear- flip-up top to remove the aluminium seal from the bottle containing the freeze–dried vaccine.
Using a sterile syringe and needle, transfer diluent to the vaccine vial to ¾ of the total volume, to dissolve the lyophilized vaccine and shake the contents vigorously until the vaccine is evenly suspended.
CEVAC® VITABRON L vaccine is reconstituted in sterile diluent at a ratio of 1 000 doses per 30 mℓ diluent.
Pour the virus suspension (as prepared above) into the remaining diluent in the plastic dropper bottle, replace the stopper and shake.
Substitute the rubber stopper with the plastic dropper tip.
Hold the fowl to be vaccinated with the head tilted to one side.
Holding the plastic bottle with the dropper tip down, gently press the sides, dropping one drop of the vaccine onto the eye. Be sure the vaccine spreads across the surface of the eye.
Do not release the fowl until a swallowing motion has been observed.
Spray method:
Use sterile diluent to reconstitute the vaccine as explained in the eye-drop method.
Only dedicated spray apparatus working under constant pressure and producing a coarse spray (droplet size between 70 and 120 µm) is suitable for spray vaccination.
The spray should be evenly applied at a distance of 20 – 30 cm above the fowls.
Two or three passages of the spray should be implemented above the fowls.
It is advisable to carry out immunization in reduced light.
During spraying, heaters and ventilation should be temporarily switched off and the air vents kept closed.
In poultry houses gather and bunch the fowls in small groups for application.
Following application leave the fowls for at least 15 minutes before switching on heaters and ventilation.
Day–old chicks in boxes: Dissolve 1 000 doses of vaccine in 0,2 to 0,3 litres sterile diluent.
Chicks on litter: Dissolve 1 000 doses in 0,5 to 1 litre sterile diluent.
PRESENTATION:
1 000, 2000 and 2 500 doses plus sterile diluent.
