CEVAC® TRANSMUNE® IBD
Reg No G3457 Act 36/1947, Zimbabwe Reg No 2016/80.23.17/9730 (Act 150/1991)
A live, freeze-dried complex vaccine for the immunisation of 18 day-old fowl embryos and healthy day-old chicks against Infectious Bursal Disease (IBD, Gumboro).
This vaccine contains a live, freeze dried IBD virus (Winterfield 2512 G-61 strain and IBD antibodies) of fowl embryo origin.
Minimum titre per dose is 0,1 CID50 IBD virus.
STORAGE:
Store in a refrigerator at 2 - 8 ºC.
Protect from sunlight
Improper storage of the vaccine may cause potency losses.
WARNINGS:
Do not slaughter fowls for human consumption within 21 days of vaccination.
Only viable fowl embryos should be vaccinated.
Clinically ill or weak chicks must not be vaccinated.
Keep out of reach of children, uninformed persons and animals.
Do not vaccinate embryos less than 18 days old.
Improper storage or handling of the vaccine may result in loss of potency.
Destroy any unused vaccine by for example burning, dispose of all the vaccine containers when the vaccination is completed.
Although this vaccine has been extensively tested under a large variety of conditions, failure thereof may ensue as a result of a wide range of reasons. If this is suspected, seek veterinary advice and notify the registration holder.
PRECAUTIONS:
Do not mix with any other vaccines.
Use only dedicated in-ovo vaccination equipment.
Do not mix this vaccine with any other vaccine or medication.
Observe aseptic precautions. Ensure that vaccination equipment (needles, syringes, devices, etc.) are clean and sterile prior to use.
Mix only the amount of vaccine to be used immediately and use promptly.
It is good vaccination practice not to allow vaccine to come into contact with human eyes or mucous membranes.
Wash and disinfect hands with a disinfectant after vaccination.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE: Use only as directed
For the vaccination of 18 day-old fowl embryos by the in-ovo method or day-old chicks by subcutaneous injection.
CEVAC® TRANSMUNE® IBD vaccine may be simultaneously administered to embryonated eggs with a lyophilised turkey herpes virus (THV) vaccine against Marek’s disease. A Newcastle disease spray vaccine containing an apathogenic virus strain or an Infectious Bronchitis vaccine recommended for day-old chicks may be administered at day old.
CEVAC® TRANSMUNE® IBD vaccine is reconstituted in sterile diluent as follows:
Pull up the plastic tear-flip-up top to remove the aluminium seal from the bottle containing the freeze-dried vaccine. Carefully pry up one edge of the rubber stopper to permit air to replace the vacuum in the bottle, then remove the stopper.
Remove the seal and stopper from the plastic diluent bottle and transfer enough volume of diluent to the vial containing the freeze-dried vaccine to reconstitute it. Replace the stopper and shake the contents vigorously until the vaccine is evenly suspended.
Pour the virus suspension back into the remaining diluent in the plastic bottle. Replace the lid and shake. The vaccine is ready for use.
In-Ovo Method
For the active immunisation of healthy 18-day-old fowl embryos only.
Satisfactory protection can only be obtained in properly developed embryos. Eggs to be injected should be candled and dead embryos separated and discarded.
Devices used for the injection should be free from any disinfectant residues.
Prior to vaccination, check the right position of the eggs-vertical axis with air cell up.
The dose of the reconstituted vaccine is 0,05 mℓ per chick.
Use only automatic injection devices dedicated to in-ovo injection.
Subcutaneous Method
The subcutaneous method is used in day-old chicks only.
Satisfactory protection can only be obtained in healthy day-old chicks.
The dose of the reconstituted vaccine is 0,1 mℓ per chick, injected subcutaneously (under the skin) (neck region). In healthy chicks no clinical reaction to vaccination is observed. Use automatic or manual vaccination devices.
