FOR ANIMAL USE ONLY
CEVAC® BRON H120 L
Reg No G2834 Act 36/1947
INDICATIONS:
A live freeze-dried vaccine for the immunization of healthy future layer or breeder fowls against infectious bronchitis (IB) from the first day of age via the eye drop method and as a booster vaccination later via the drinking water method.
STORAGE:
Store in a refrigerator at 2 – 8 °C. Do not freeze.
Improper storage may cause potency losses.
Protect from sunlight.
COMPOSITION:
This vaccine contains a live IB virus (H-120), Massachusetts strain. Minimum titre per dose is 103.3 EID50
WARNINGS:
Do not slaughter fowls within 21 days after vaccination.
Clinically ill or weak fowls should not be vaccinated.
All susceptible fowls on the same premises should be vaccinated at the same time.
The vaccine should be used with caution around non-vaccinated flocks. Infectious Bronchitis is highly contagious during the period of respiratory signs for non-vaccinated fowls kept in contact with vaccinated fowls.
Rarely, catarrhal respiratory symptoms may occur on day 4 to 6 following vaccination, but disappear in a few days.
Destroy any unused vaccine by for example burning; dispose of all the vaccine containers when the vaccination is completed.
Keep out of reach of children, uninformed persons and animals.
Although this remedy has been extensively tested under a large variety of conditions, failure thereof may ensue as a result of a wide range of reasons. If this is suspected, seek veterinary advice and notify the registration holder.
PRECAUTIONS:
It is good vaccination practice not to allow vaccine to come into contact with human eyes or mucous membranes.
Mix only the amount of vaccine to be used immediately and use promptly.
Use entire contents of bottle when first opened.
Do not stretch dosage.
Wash and disinfect hands with a disinfectant after vaccination.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE: Use only as directed.
This vaccine can be administered via the eye drop method or drinking water method. Chicks should be vaccinated via the eyedrop method with CEVAC® BRON 120 L from the first day of age. Booster vaccination should be done four weeks later via the drinking water method to ensure that an adequate immunity develops in the fowls at 8 to 11 weeks of age.
Drinking Water Method:
The waterers should be thoroughly cleaned before use. (Do not use disinfecting solutions during cleaning because the disinfectant residue may destroy the virus). Drinking containers must be free from all disinfecting solutions and medicants for 48 hours prior to vaccination and for 24 hours after vaccination. Withhold water from the fowls until they are thirsty, 1 – 2 hours prior to vaccination, depending on the ambient temperature.
Re-hydrate the vaccine with clean, cool, non-chlorinated water.
Mixing ratios may vary according to the age of the fowls, ambient temperature, etc. An indicator of the mixing ratios is as follows:
For each 1 000-dose pack:
AGE | VOLUME OF WATER | DOSES |
---|
10 – 14 days | 10 – 15 litres | 1 000 |
2 – 8 weeks | 20 – 30 litres | 1 000 |
over 8 weeks | 40 litres | 1 000 |
Skim milk powder should be added to the water, to stabilize the vaccine virus, at a rate of 0,2 % (2 g per litre of water). Use at least one dose per fowl. Distribute the vaccine-treated water in enough waterers so that all fowls may have an opportunity to drink. For more uniform consumption ensure that the fowls move around the waterers frequently during the first few minutes. Do not give other drinking water until the water containing the vaccine has been consumed. After the vaccine medicated water has been consumed, continue with the usual watering practice.
Eye drop Method:
Re-hydrate the vaccine with clean, cool, non-chlorinated water as follows – 1 000 doses per 30 mℓ.
Hold the fowl to be vaccinated with the head tilted to one side giving clear access to one of the eyes. Hold the plastic bottle containing the vaccine in a vertical position. Gently press the sides of the bottle releasing one drop of vaccine onto the eye of the fowl. Be sure the vaccine spreads across the surface of the eye. There is usually an automatic reflex action that serves to spread the vaccine over the eye surface as soon as the vaccine is dropped onto the eye. Do not release the fowl until a swallowing motion has been observed.
PRESENTATION:
1 000 and 5 000 doses in a glass bottle.
